  • 1961 - 2019

This collection consists of assorted publications, photographs, artefacts and memorabilia that document undergraduate student life in St. John’s College. These items were retrieved from various corners of the College campus during the founding years of the College Archives, or transferred to the College Archives after their creation or use. They were arranged into a single collection by the College Archives to facilitate access and management.

The Chain of Aquila

The chain of office of the chairperson of the Students' Association. It was created in 1962 when the College celebrated its golden jubilee, and has since been passed on to successive generations of chairpersons. It bears the emblems of the College, the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, and the University of Hong Kong.

Photo Enlarger (LPL 66)

A photo enlarger used by St. Johnians in the 1990s for film photo development. It used to be placed in the darkroom at the rear of the Students' Common Room, which later became a toilet and is now part of the storage room.

Publications

This subcollection consists of publications produced by the undergraduate students of the College or documenting undergraduate student life in the College. These include students' association policy publications (campaign booklets and annual reports), periodicals, address books, event publications, etc.

Campaign Booklets

The campaign booklets were published by the proposed cabinets of the students' association as part of their election campaigns. They contain the cabinets' election platforms and would have been discussed at the annual general meetings or campaign forums ahead of the elections.
